Where are you located? We are located at 5037 W 111th Street in Alsip, IL 60803. Our training center is located in a strip mall next to El Gallo Mexican Restaurant on the side of the building.
Why is your program so highly rated and what can I expect? You can expect the most in depth, hands on approach to safe firearm handling you have ever experienced. Our rating is based upon curriculum content, hands on instruction, style of instruction and student satisfaction. Our instructors are all passionate about teaching people how to defend themself in every situation and we take pride in our ability to do so.
Is your CCL program approved through the Illinois State Police?
Yes our program is 100% Certified through the Illinois State Police as well as any instructor that will be presenting the material to you the day of your course. With all of the media surrounding the few bad instructors that have been de-certified we encourage all of our students to check us out on the ISP Approved instruction and curriculum page on the ISP website shown below:
Do I need a FOID card to take your class?
NO you do not need a FOID card in order to participate in this course however you will need it when you apply for your Illinois Concealed Carry License. If you want more information on how to start the FOID application process please visit the Illinois State Police
What if I don't own a firearm?
Firearm ownership is not a requirement of any of our firearm courses including the Illinois CCL course. The Blackhawk Tactical Instruction staff will let our students use our firearms FREE of charge or you can rent a firearm from the range being utilized for a small fee. Please note in the checkout page whether or not you will need to utilize either of these options.
Once I complete your Illinois CCL course can I start carrying my firearm immediately?
No you will have to apply for your Illinois CCL via the Illinois State Police website and at the conclusion of our training we will walk you through step by step how to apply. Our program satisfies the training requirements in order for you to apply.
Can we bring our own firearms into your classroom?
No, we will provide you will all live firearms as well as SIRT training pistols while you are in the classroom portion of any pistol course we offer. This rule is in effect to ensure that we maintain a safe learning environment for our students and staff. Please ensure that your firearms are secured safely in the vehicle, out of plain view prior to entering the training center.
Why is there an extra charge for application assistance? This service is offered by us as a convenience to our students and is a labor intensive process. We create your Illinois Digital ID, upload your picture, upload your documentation and take your application to completion while you train. Upon successful completion you verify your details and make the payment to the State Police and walk out awaiting your license.
How do I dress for the gun range?
Upon completion of the classroom portion of Training Day #1 you will be dismissed to the gun range to complete your live fire qualifications for the Illinois State Police CCL Program. Our recommended dress code for the range is as follows:
- No Flip-Flops, Sandals or Open Footwear of any kind Allowed.
- No Tank Tops or Low-Cut Tops Allowed
- Extremes in apparel or jewelry, which are distractive, disruptive, disrespectful or unsafe will not be permitted.
- Clothing or jewelry displaying: drugs, obscenities, lewd or illegal behavior, sexual overtones. etc. or any reference that is disruptive to others.
